Spring break travel: Do you have these 4 items in your car?

Lots of people are hitting the road for spring break travel this year, with the COVID-19 pandemic still raging and flying being the less desirable option.

So, is your car ready for spring break travel? Sure, you have your luggage, your driver’s license and your snacks – and those are all super important – but the fact is, you also need some other essentials to safely make your spring break travel memorable in a good way.

If you are planning some spring break travel, here are four items you need in your car to make your trip safer. Do you have them?

Spare tire and tire pressure gauge

Maybe you have a spare tire. Maybe you don’t. Most of us simply don’t know if we have one or if it is in good working order. But if you need a spare tire you NEED a spare tire, so make sure you have one and that it’s ready to go in an emergency. And make sure you have a tire pressure gauge just in case the one on your car stops working too.

Blankets, water and snacks

If you get stranded, it’s a good idea to have blankets, water and snacks in case help isn’t coming as fast as you’d like. No one wants to think about the worst, but depending on your spring break trip locale, weather conditions can change quickly and you can get trapped in your car.

First aid kit and flashlight

You never know when you will need the contents of a well-stocked first aid kit and it’s always a good idea to have one in your car. Not just for emergencies that happen IN the car, but you might need the contents while you are on your spring break trip. It’ll save you a trip wandering around looking for a drug store, too.

And toss a flashlight in there, too. Just in case. Not all rental homes or hotel rooms have them, and they can come in handy.

Umbrella

This one won’t save your life, but it might make your life easier. Who remembers to pack an umbrella on a trip? Not many people. But if you toss one or two in your car before you hit the road, those unexpected showers at your destination will be easier to bear.
